It's spinach month at Bubbling Life
Spinach brings iron and Popeye to mind (well, for some of us at least!). But did you know there is such a thing as 'perpetual spinach'? It's a fascinating plant which isn't actually spinach as such, but more related to chard. Still, it tastes like spinach, if a bit earthier and it is one of the most rewarding plants to grow in your square foot garden or your allotment: it's the gift that keeps on giving for around 9 months out of the gardening year! And as I am of Greek origin and love my spanakopitta, it's definitely one of my all time favourite veggies I grow in my garden. So if you're a keen gardener, this is a good website to read on about perpetual spinach.
And if you're a keen cook, here's my great grandmother's authentic spanakopitta recipe.
